Evening meeting - Casual business

On Thursday 13th February 2020 President Ewen Macdonald welcomed 12 Club to this our casual evening meeting, which was held at the Gilvenbank Hotel Lounge, Glenrothes. 

On reception, this week was Peter May.

The Annual Young Musician competition hosted by Glenrothes High school on Thursday 6th February never fails to disappoint as nine very talented pupils from the three Glenrothes high schools participated in the event organised by lead Rotarian Christine Grist. Being judged by Jennifer and Erik Knussen with great summing up and critique from Jennifer to all participants just prior to announcing the winners. The winners were presented with the trophies by Vice President Geoff Sampson to vocal section Lachlan Graham from Glenrothes High and instrumentalist on the piano Gordon Tulloch from Auchmuty High. Many thanks to Glenrothes High for hosting the event.

Tonight’s meeting gave members the opportunity of discussing the forthcoming events and where we were at in the planning.

Forthcoming events

Wednesday 19th February – young Artist – Auchmuty High School with the 3 high schools showcasing their artistic talent.   

Thursday 20th February Primary School Quiz Auchmuty High School 6:30 for 7pm Another big event in our calendar where the local primary schools compete in the annual Rotary quiz.   

Sunday 1st March - Swimarathon – Carnegie Leisure Centre Dunfermline time TBA

Friday April 3rd Sportsman’s Dinner – Gilvenbank Hotel 7 for 7:30pm £30 per person– our main fundraiser of the year our speakers being Ex referee Stuart Dougal, Comedian Connor Burns and Compere Willie Allan MBE.

Wednesday 10th June 2020 Kids Out day at the Deer Park by Cupar.

This coming week’s meeting on Thursday 20th February 2020 will revert to our usual Lunch time to be held at the Gilvenbank Hotel Glenrothes with the earlier start time of 12.30pm please meet by 12.15pm. This week we will have recitals from the winning pupils from the Primary Schools who will be competing for the Iain Chalmers Quaich – Primary School Scots Poetry Competition.
