Fellow Rotarians
59 Rotarians, Old Edwardians,
Wet We Whistle Whisky Appreciation Society and friends attended Kinver
Rotary's Annual Charity Whisky Tasting Evening at The Old Edwardans Club
Stourbridge on Friday 8th November
This year we were spoiled with not
one but two of the top Whisky Ambassadors, Phil Huckle, from Pernod Ricard and
Colin Dunn from Diageo and they both provided an excellent selection of top
quality whiskies to sample.
There was something for everyone, no matter what their taste be it smoky or sherrified. Phil and Colin always deliver an excellent entertaining evening whilst educating the audience in the art of whisky tasting and last night also brought out the great banter between them.
Along with it being a great
social event it is with huge appreciation to Colin, Phil and their respective
company bosses for providing whiskies with value of over £1150, free of charge,
that it was also a great financial success.
Thanks also go to local whisky connoisseur, Andy Purslow of the Wet Whee Whistle whisky society, Tim & Tracey Purslow for the excellent lite-bite food and venue and Bob Hemming for arranging the event.Clive and Derek for managing the raffle which brought in £585. Thanks to the 4 raffle providers. Two bottles provided by the Ambassadors were also raffled along with purchases of the wooden boxes that some of the bottles came in and sale of any opened bottles.
All this resulted in total funds raised of £2110.
From the funds raised we already
have Council agreement to make donations to:
-The Chris Westwood Charity for
Children with Physical Disabilities, a local charity set up in 2003, who
purchase mobility, sensory and vision equipment for children and young
people with physical disabilities, when there are no other sources of financial
assistance available - a cheque for £500 was presented to Chris on the night
-New Cross Hospital Cardiac charity-
who do a fantastic job in respect of anything related to the heart and where
Bob's wife Di benefited from recently
-Living Springs another local charity who focus on support of children and families who have suffered domestic abuse.
- and in view of the fantastic amount raised which is more than we envisaged we will be looking to make further donations.
And thanks to everyone who attended
