Christmas 2019 bumper charity collections

Rochford Rotarians and their Santa raise a record amount for charity.

The Rotary Club of Rochford enjoyed a fantastic result for our 2019 Christmas collections,

with a record £10,708.24 raised from our very generous local community.

Collections were carried out in the streets of Ashingdon, Canewdon, Hawkwell, Hockley and Rochford and at several retail outlets throughout the area.

We also had Santa and our Snowmen to help with the switch-on of the Christmas lights in Rochford Square and Hockley.

The Club will now use the money raised to help voluntary groups and good causes in the Rochford area.

Rotary President, Rotarian Ian Puzey said, “It’s great to be in our community at this time of year and raising money for good causes. Once again, we had a fantastic response from the people in our area.

As always, the street collections proved very popular, with Santa on his sleigh with his Snowmen giving youngsters, and the not-so-young, an early taste of Christmas.

We are also very grateful to Lidl, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, The Factory Shop and Waitrose for allowing us to collect at their premises. The money collected will now enable the Rotary Club to help so many who are less fortunate than ourselves in our local community”.
