We had a special treat on Wednesday 20th Nov when we visited the stunning Mackintosh at the Willow Tearooms in Sauchiehall Street. The Tearooms first opened by Miss Cranston in 1903 have recently undergone an extensive program of restoration to restore them to their original glory.
Our visit began with a tour of the building and our guide Caitlin Divers revealed some of the stories behind the renovation. Most of the work had been carried out by local crafts people and we were all amazed at the attention to detail that had gone into recreating the decor and furnishings.
After our tour we were then able to enjoy a delicious 3-course dinner served in in the beautiful Salon De Luxe. It was a truely unique evening. Thanks go to Caitlin and all the catering team who looked after us and also Rotarian Bill Crombie for organsing the event
