Report on International Fund Raising Lunch on 15th March 2020

A very successful and enjoyable lunch was held at the Northampton and County Golf Club in aid of providing prosthetic limbs in Uganda for the District Rotary Jaipur Limb Project.  It marked perhaps the last social event we were able to enjoy before the official Coronavirus restrictions came into place, nevertheless there was already obvious concern by many, which understandably resulted in last minute cancellations.  Our numbers were therefore very much reduced from last year at 35, compared to 58 in 2019.

Despite this we were able to raise as much money as last year, thanks to an inspiring address by Rotarian Roger Neuberg, members’ gifts of raffle prizes, donations, generosity of those attending and gift aid additions.  As a result of the event we are therefore able to send £1,000 towards the District 1070 target of £12,000 and this has been hugely appreciated.

We would like to acknowledge the support we received from friends and other Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs, including District 107 E-Club, Blaby, Northampton West, Oadby, Uppingham, Leicester Novus, Wellingborough Hatton and Beckett.  I would like to thank in particular David Allitt for his liaison with the Golf Club and for organising the Raffle (though for isolation reasons was unable to attend on the day), to our Treasurer Brian May, to our committee members and for the support of Inner Wheel members.
