The members of Nuneaton Rotary Club are delighted to present a commemorative bench to the town. The club commissioned the bench to celebrate the bi-centenary of the author's birth. Rotarians, members of the George Eliot fellowship and the council gathered to watch the Mayor, Clr.June Tandy and the president of Rotary David Lloyd unveil the bench.
Have you seen the commemorative George Eliot bench outside the Nuneaton town hall? This was provided by the Rotary Club of Nuneaton to celebrate Mary Ann Evans' 200th anniversary.
In the different pictures attached you can more clearly see the clever design of the back of the bench which incorporates a Pen to signify the writing of books, the name "George Eliot", year dates, plus a picture of Mary Ann Evans' face.
Definitely worth a better look next time you are in Nuneaton town.
