The evening was a great success with The Mayor, Cllr Nazim Choudary, in attendance. Many guests said that this was the best "Dinner with a Diva" ever. The Royal & Derngate Choir sang beautifully, and Lauren, who is studying at The Guildford College of Dance, gave a performance of contemporary dance, of unbelievable movement and flexibility. She has a male dance partner who usually dances with her, but he was unable to come. The photograph shows them performimg in a recent dance competition.

Ben Kerslake (left), Elizabeth Phillips (centre) and Peter Snip (right) gave outstanding performances, and Peter also sang Matt Monro songs to the delight of the audience. Elizabeth has recently been confirmed by the Royal Opera House Covent Garden management as the oldest top toprano still singing who can hit a Top "C".   They have invited her to go to the Opera House to sing a few arias to them on stage. She was trained there some 50 years ago. The previous eldest top soprano opera singer was Monserrat Cabaile, who died a few years ago. Many will remember her from singing "Barcellona" with Freddie Mercury.

The Marriot provided a wonderful meal and looked after us excellently. as usual,
