The Annual Burns Supper was held in the River Inn on Saturday 18th January 2020, chaired by President Hamid Khatib. Nearly 200 people enjoyed a superb meal, including a Beggar’s Purse of Haggis, Neeps and Tatties, and traditional entertainment by members and guests. Past-President Andrew Macleman addressed the Haggis in fine style after it had been piped in by Peter Boyd. Rev Fraser Aitken proposed the Immortal Memory, Rev Gary Noonan proposed the Toast to the Lassies and Patricia Nicoll replied – three very amusing speeches. Hugh Kerr gave a superb rendition of Holy Willie’s Prayer and singers Laura McKee and Matthew Alexander sang Burns songs beautifully. Angus Mathieson concluded the programme with a Vote of Thanks in verse in the style of Rabbie.

With the benefit of a well-supported raffle £3500 was raised for local Rotary charitable causes!
