At St Brigids School

SIARAD CYHOEDDUS IEUENCTID

Cynhaliwyd y gystadleuaeth ar y 29ain o Ionawr yn St Brigids gyda 3 thîm yn cymeryd rhan yn yr Adrannau Canolradd ac Uwchradd. Cafwyd perfformiadau da gan yr holl dimau gyda'r pynciau'n eithaf heriol. Cymerodd y Barnwyr, Adele Thomas, y Barnwr Mike Baker a Lyndsey Tasker beth amser i ddod i'w penderfyniadau gan mai dim ond 10 marc a wahanodd y timau yn y grŵp Canolradd â phroblem debyg yn yr adran Hŷn.

Roedd y tîm buddugol yn yr Adran Ganolradd yn dod o Goleg Myddelton ynghyd â'r enillwyr yn y grŵp Hŷn. Rhoddwyd y wobr am y siaradwr gorau ar y noson i Madison Ellis o Goleg Myddelton. Dim ond ar fore'r gystadleuaeth y cafodd ei drafftio i'w thîm ond rhoddodd berfformiad meistrolgar fel “Cynigydd” o gynnig eithaf heriol.

Gan na ellid cynnal y rowndiau terfynol Dosbarth eleni nid oedd y timau buddugol yn anffodys yn gallu symud ymlaen ymhellach yn y Gystadleuaeth Rotary hon.

YOUTH SPEAKS

The competition was held on 29th January at St Brigids with 3 teams taking part in both the Intermediate and Senior Sections. All the teams gave good performances with the topics being quite challenging. The Judges, Adele Thomas, Judge Mike Baker and Lyndsey Tasker took some time to come to their decisions as only 10 marks separated the teams in the Intermediate group with a similar problem in the Senior section.

The winning team in the Intermediate Section were from Myddelton College as were the winners in the Senior group. The award for the best speaker on the night was given to Madison Ellis from Myddelton College. She was only drafted into her team on the morning of the competition but gave a masterly performance as “Proposer” of quite a challenging motion.

As the District finals could not be held this year the winning teams were unfortunately unable to progress any further in this Rotary Competition.
