A welcome visit from International Rotarians

A delightful evening in the company of visiting Rotary members from Moldova

Our regular meeting was host to visitors from Moldova this week. Alexandru Robu, Assistant Governor for District 2241, and his wife, together with his daughter Rotarian Alexandrina Robu-Cepoi.

Until recently Alexandru was a member and past President of the Chisinau Club but has now joined the newly established E-Club of Moldova International. The new club was created to bring together the many Moldovan Rotarians working abroad and he chose to join the new venture to lend his considerable Rotary experience to the enthusiasm of his two daughters, who are the driving force behind it.

Despite the language barrier, Alexandrina proved an excellent translator and the conversation flowed well. It was great to hear of the positive contribution Rotary has made in Moldova since it's relatively recent re-introduction to the country in 1998. Hearing more about how an E-club functions was also of great interest to our members as we continue to look at new ways to increase the membership  of our own club.

It was particulary satisfying to hear how many similarities there are between our clubs and the aims and ambitions we all share, a true reminder that Rotary is a worldwide organisation that brings together like minded people from every corner of the globe.

Alexandru and his family were only in London for a short stay and we are very pleased that they chose to visit us and turn a normal club meeting into a really special event.
