Rotary Young Chef - District Final

Meridian Rotary Club was very proud that Tilly Vickery (Sackville school) and Georgia Kewell (Imberhorne school), both aged 15 years, represented East Grinstead in the Rotary District 1145 Young Chef Final at Merton Catering College, Morden on Saturday 29th February.

Rotary District 1145 brings together 94 Rotary Clubs in 6 Greater London Boroughs, Surrey, East & West Sussex and neighbouring parts of Hampshire. Both girls planned, cooked and presented a healthy 3 course meal for 2 persons for a cost of no more than £20.

All their ingredients came from Waitrose who sponsor this event in East Grinstead. There were 10 young chefs in the final who had 2 hours to undertake their cooking challenge.

Although our representatives prepared their usual excellent meals, the winner chosen by 3 highly experienced Master Chefs was 16 year old Lucie Taylor from Portsmouth who goes on to the Rotary Regional final in Newbury.
