The Rotary Club of St Andrews as well as experimenting with the use of virtual meetings continues to look for innovative ways to continue its service to the community. Fundraising has effectively halted with the cancellation of the StAFCO spring concert and the Easter bag-packing at Marks & Spencer. Other cancellations seem inevitable.
The weekly meetings have been cancelled in response to current situation. So members have decided to donate a sum equivalent to the cost of five week’s lunches to ensure that the club continues to support vulnerable people locally. £2400 has been raised from this initiative.
The first beneficiary of this, with a £1000 donation, is Community Aid St Andrews whose volunteers provide help to the elderly and those who are unable to leave home for health reasons. The local Food Bank, which also receives support from this organisation, will benefit directly from the donation.
The club will continue to find new ways to raise funds to enable continued support to our neighbours for the duration of the current emergency and beyond.
