Kids Watch Out!

The Rotary Club of Falmouth’s Youth Committee is involved in a pilot project to see if a book titled Kids "WATCH OUT" is successful in aiding Primary school teachers ensure that children are aware of dangers at home and in the community. It is written by specialist teachers in conjunction with the police and is illustrated by children for children.  So far, the response has been very positive and Falmouth Rotary Club has donated £1000 to produce the booklets. (This will also be match funded by District).In addition, the PCC of the City of London has given a £10,000 grant towards the development of a board game called "Mistakes and Ladders", which reinforces safeguarding lessons. Each game will cost £10.

Update Sept 24th 2021

The Mayor of Falmouth, Councillor Steve Eva, held a reception to thank all those involved in the creation and distribution of the book Kid's 'Watch Out'. The authors of the book are Tony and Lynne Churchill. Tony used to be a policeman with the Thames Valley police and witnessed the dangers children faced due to social media, drugs and County Lines. Kids 'Watch Out' covers 34 different dangers and is a valuable resource for teachers in promoting discussion between parents and children. The Mayor thanked local Rotarians for distributing the books to 13 Falmouth schools and for getting over 10,000 copies to 80 schools in Cornwall and Devon.
