The Rotary Young Writer Competition, 2020
The District Competition
Our two, local first prize winners each won a third prize at District Level: one from Truro High School, in the Junior Group, and one from Penair School in the Intermediate.
Due to the wretched virus, the local and District prizes have been posted to their homes, so I’m afraid a photo opportunity has been unavailable this time.
This year’s subject was ‘Connections’, which despite its somewhat abstract nature, drew 42 entries locally, all of which impressed our panel of judges. Next year’s subject is ‘My Happiest Day’ and we will be sending details to local schools before the Autumn half term holiday.
30 June Update:
Richard now reports that he has received from District the Certificates and book voucher prizes and he has forwarded them on.
He was then delighted to receive the following letter:
"Dear Mr Lingham,
Thank you very much for organising the ‘Young Writer Competition’ and for awarding me 3rd place.
I’m sorry that it’s been so long and I haven’t replied until now, our online school timetable is quite demanding.
I am looking forward to buying a new book with my book voucher!
