Our Memory Cafe

This is a monthly meeting open to visitors from Bingham, Radcliffe, Cotgrave and all villages in surrounding area.

The theme for October’s meeting was ‘Radio and TV’ and was expertly presented by Duncan and Mike.

We were shown clips from old TV programmes such as Andy Pandy, William Tell, Crackerjack and many more.

A good visit down black and white TV memory Lane!

After tea, which was a selection of sandwiches and delicious cakes made by Rotarians and their wives, Mike presented a quiz which gave us a chance to discuss old favourites from our radio and TV programmes.

Denis was available this month, so he accompanied the lively sing a long with his usual piano-playing prowess!  GT

Thanks again to everyone who helped to make the afternoon so enjoya

The Memory Café  is held on the last Thursday of the month in Cotgrave Church

It is run by Rotarians from the Rotary Club of the Vale of Belvoir supported by many Rotarian's partners and is for people suffering from early Dementia or Alzheimer’s and their carers. Half way through the meeting afternoon tea is served consisting of delicious sandwiches and scrumptious homemade cakes.

Each monthly meeting has a different theme to encourage the attendees to participate and recall events and memories from the past and stimulate involvement. Most meetings have audio visuals and often artefacts to encourage participants to recall  major things that have happened in their lifetime.
