SOCIAL EVENT - Talk about the Daniel Adamson Restoration project

Wed, Feb 10th 2021 at 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Bob and Stuart, volunteers from the Daniel Adamson Preservation Society will give us a talk about the restoration work to this historic Steam Tug.

A talk by Stuart Wood and Bob Cannell from the Daniel Adamson Preservation Society who are going to tell the remarkable story of the Danny "The Tug that Survived to Sail Again"

The Daniel Adamson is coal fired steam tug tender launched in 1903 from the golden age of British engineering and had a career ranging from towing humble barges to entertaining Kings and Queens on the famous Manchester Ship Canal.

After a working life of over 80 years, she was eventually abandoned and destined for the scrap yard. At the 11th hour in 2004 she was rescued by a dedicated group of volunteers and after many trials and tribulations was returned to her former working glory, sailing the waterways of the North West for the enjoyment of all.

 This is her story.

Bob & Stuart are both volunteers of the Daniel Adamson Preservation Society.     Bob is the Volunteer Co-ordinator besides being a Presenter.    Stuart is an ex River Mersey Pilot and now has a slot on Radio Merseyside giving news about the River Mersey every Sunday evening.  He is also a Trustee of the Preservation Society and a volunteer Skipper on the Danny.
