Rotary and Cleanferry volunteers picked litter around South Queensferry

Responding to a call from Cleanferry, Queensferry's group of environmentally aware volunteers, Jim McCulloch, Irene Brownless, Ed Kelly and Neil McKinlay from Queensferry Rotary Club helped with a litter pick on Monday 29th June. A team of twelve, recruited from various organisations, worked their way through Queensferry for two hours clearing litter. Areas attacked were The Binks car park, Priory Church Gardens, Scotmid car park, the Bellstane, Harbour Head, parts of the walkway / cycle path and the Hawes. Jim McCulloch, who was shortly to pass the presidency to Irene Brownless at the end of the Rotary year, observed that, particularly during lockdown when the club was operating through Zoom, it was good to become involved with a hands-on project and meet a few members face to face. Cleanferry encourages walkers in the town to take a bag and just pick up rubbish as they walk. Keeping litter to a minimum will go a long way to keeping Queensferry beautiful.
