We've done it!! Fantastic two days of walking. We had over 30 walkers and it was a pleasure to have Millmead, one of our intended beneficiaries, join us.The weather on the Saturday was glorious and it was a pleasure to see our coastline between Reculver and Palm Bay so well used by walkers, runners, sailors and wind surfers. Not forgetting the occasional family on the beach settling down for a picnic. The second day from Pegwell Bay was more cloudy but the sun broke through towards the end. How refreshing it to rediscover the simple enjoyments of casual conversation prompted less by the issues of the day than by the sights and nature which surrounds us.
The donations are still rolling in and so you are not too late to make your donation to our three main charities.
Porchlight www.porchlight.org.uk
The Pilgrim Hospice www.pilgrimshospice.org.uk
Millmead Children's Centre www.kentcht.nhs/millmead.uk
and our club's own Cinderella Charity Fund, from which we support these and many other causes throughout the year.
These causes matter.
Porchlight. Geoff's story: 'I slept in a car, on the beach and even in public toilets.' He's gone from Scout to homeless....to Porchlight worker.
Pilgrim Hospice. where people with a terminal illness are supported to live well in every moment - in mind and body.
Millmead. '...information, advice and support to parents as well as integrated childcare and early learning, health services, family support and parental outreach.'
