The President's Handover

Bridport Rotary President’s Handover 2020


Normally the handover is a formal event but due to the Covid 19 Pandemic a new approach was needed. The unusual handover took place on the local Golf Course with all the “President’s Men”; past President David Weston handed over to President Roger Pollock who then inaugurated President Elect Bernard Paull and President Nominee Colin Bowditch.

Roger thanked David for what he had achieved in a such a very difficult year dealing with the virus restrictions. 

 In 2019/20 Bridport Rotary Club supported the following causes with these donations.

International Projects:  SOS Africa funding our sponsored student Melray and a donation for their pandemic food parcel aid totaling £900.

Bridport Youth-Projects; Two Colfox students Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, Youth Speaks, Colfox STEM team, The Bandits, !st Bridport Scouts and BYPAT’s Branden’s Trail amounting to £1920.

Local Charities: St Mary’s Cupboard Love Food bank £500, West Dorset Scrubbers £990, Bridport Town Council Coronavirus Action Plan £2000, Beaminster Town Council Coronavirus Action Plan £250.

Fun and fundraising events such as Hyacinth bulb selling and the Melplash Show, were all a great success until the Pandemic struck and ended all further events and meetings.  

David Weston’s nominated charity for his year was the Dorset branch of Mosaic, which is a Dorset wide charity offering a pathway of support to bereaved children, young people and their families, a donation of £700 will be made shortly.

President Roger Pollock’s nominated charity will be The Dorset Blind Association.
