Our club is supporting Business for Youths' Sunflower 2 project.

Following on from the initial sunflower lunch project in which the team from BFY provided and distributed packed lunches free to local children the organisation has now moved to phase 2 of the project-sunflower lunch 2. This is to provide and deliver food and essential parcels to families in need within Newton-le-Willows.

During a 14 week shift, from March 23, when lockdown started, up until June 26, the team led by Terry Maguire, has delivered an incredible 33805 lunches to children and elderly in the local area.

During this phase our club made a cash donation along with a number of other organisations.

Phase 2 is now specifically targeted on families in need and will continue through the summer holidays. At present an average of 60 parcels are delivered once a week.

From our latest pallets of food, kindly donated by Morrison's Baxters Lane store in St Helen's,  we have delivered some of the proceeds to BFY for use in their essential parcels.

Our club is proud to support this local organisation and is very impressed in the way that the BFY team is responding to the crisis and providing vital support to our local community. A true example of People in Action!
