GUEST SPEAKER : PHIL GODFREY ( On-line Meeting)

Antiphospholipid Syndrome : Death of his young wife : His epic fundraising journey .

Phil Godfey is a Rotarian from Solihull Rotary and spoke to us via Zoom. He told us about the sad loss of his wife , and the rare Antiphospholipid Syndrome that took her life so cruelly. We learned that, if diagnosed early, there was effective treatment for APS, but most doctors are unaware.

Injury stopped his planned walk from Lands End to John of Groats to raise money for APS ,  but his fall back plan to travel round Britain by train visiting every station in the land, talking to over 150 Rotary Clubs, was very successful.

The APS charity aims to fund training and raise awareness of doctors into recognising the symptoms of APS at an early stage to effect treatment.

What a moving story. And a great effort with the fundraising, Phil.  Thank you.
