David's Diary

This will be my last Diary report. The year seems to have gone by in a flash but I am sad that we won’t have a real meeting during my Presidency. Virtual meetings have some dubious advantages: no expense on lunch, and maybe a few others. However the big disadvantage is that we do not get to meet each other and there is no social interaction. It is more difficult to express subtle nuances and to have asides which may be amusing or could transform a discussion. Never-the-less I must thank and congratulate our Secretary, David for organising and co-ordinating our virtual meetings so effectively. Hopefully we will soon meet again in person over a convivial lunch around the swimming pool at the Thurlestone Hotel on Monday 19th July at 12.30 pm. I am still unable to say whether Scilla and I can join you as we have a holiday booked in Greece and we are still not sure whether we will be able to go or not! As this is my last opportunity to express my thanks to Members for all their support during the past year. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone. Our Club would like to recruit some new members but I have found that we have been able to support those which we wanted to support and who need our support in spite of our depleted membership. I would like to thank Sylvia for taking on the roll of President again and I am sure we will all do our best to make her year successful and happy. Thank you all for giving me the opportunity to have been your President once again.
