Malcolm Baldwin - Lancashire Rotary collects used clothes for charity

Wed, Sep 9th 2020 at 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Meeting on Zoom

Malcolm Baldwin from Accrington Rotary Club spoke to us about Wrap Up Lancashire.

In 2018 Wrap Up London had been formed. They collected coats from People at railway stations, tube stations and places of work. The coats were then handed to charities who were helping people in crisis.

Malcolm and a committee from Accrington Rotary Club heard about this and decided to form Wrap Up Lancashire. In autumn 2018 they started collecting coats and other items of clothing. These were then handed to 10 different charity beneficiaries. 7 different Rotary clubs became involved.

The project became even bigger in 2019 with 35,000 items donated. The media was used to spread the word

It costs little to set up this scheme with no cost to the general public and It helps to raise the profile of Rotary.

Sadly, owing to the COVID the 2021 project has had to be cancelled.

Following several questions the vote of thanks was given by John Dea
