Dictionaries for Life August 2020

Youth Service Convener David Anderson hands over the dictionaries to Maureen Shaw, Senior Depute at Rothesay Primary.

For a number of years the Club have presented a 'dictionary-for -life' to each child leaving Bute's three Primary Schools and moving up to Rothesay Academy. This usually happens at the primary school's end of year ceremony. The early closure of schools due to COVID-19 made that impossible this year. Instead, it was decided that the dictionaries would be presented to the children during their first days following arrival at Rothesay Academy to start the new academic year.

Each book has the name of the individual child together with a letter from Club President Georgeann Martin explaining why this year has been different and wishing them all good fortune during their further education at the senior school and beyond.

The club have confirmed that the tradition of presenting dictionaries to all pupils leaving our three primary schools will continue next year.
