Beirut disaster

Following the bombings in Beiruit, Rotarians were only too willing to restart their primary function of raising money to help others.

Following the Beirut disaster, within days Otter Valley Rotarians were making an emergency collection outsideTesco in Honiton and McColls in West Hill.

A complete different way to past collections, due to social distancing a tent was set up in the car park, not in front entrance as is the norm,

The collectors had to wear face masks,  but the biggest change was the availabity of a card reader. This will be invaluable for the future as more and more of us do not carry cash.

As always people were very generous and we raised £983 which we rounded up to £1000.  The money will be sent to a Rotary Club in Lebanon to distribute where needed.

The funds are now safely with Rotary in Lebanon, and greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone.
