Our 2020 Paul Wellman Memorial Golf Competition

John Culwick comes home the winner

Past President Jackie Wellman presents the winner’s trophy to John Culwick

With the Covid-19 regulations restricting all large social meetings, the Rotary Club of Rayleigh Mill have been keeping the club spirit alive via weekly Zoom meetings. While these meetings enable the members of the club to enjoy the lively camaraderie that is an essential part of the club, there is no substitute for actual physical, social contact and  the members  have been discussing ways that the members could meet in pleasant surroundings that meet the Covid-19 guidelines.

With the opening of golf clubs, the club seized the opportunity to stage their annual Paul Wellman Trophy Golf Competition at Three Rivers Golf and Country Club, where the competitors enjoyed an excellent day of golf in warm, sunny, if a bit windy conditions.

The keenly fought competition resulted in a win for Rotarian John Culwick with Andrew Shackleton and Martin Hodson sharing the prize for the longest drive, John Cuthberson taking the prize for “Nearest the Pin” and Chris Chorley taking the prize for the top scoring guest.
