MEG RYVES WELCOME STATEMENT
This year it is my honour to be President of the Rotary Club of Southampton. I am taking over from SuePhillips who will be a hard act to follow. I wish to thank Sue for all her hard work and dedication and Philip for continuing to support me as Club Secretary. I also wish to thank all the members of the Club Council for being brave enough to choose me as this year's President.
In 2020/21 our Club theme will be centred upon achieving diversity. We intend to do all that we can to ensure that we remain diverse, inclusive and flexible in our ways of thinking and our ways of working. Our Club intends to reflect and celebrate Southampton as a city with a proud history and a diverse community. Our focus will be to continue making a difference within Southampton. We will be supporting current and future local projects whilst remaining committed to Rotary causes worldwide.
I shall finish with a quote on positivity by the inspirational author Maya Angelou which resonates with me as an individual and as a Rotarian: "Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud."
