As part of our People of Action series Vernon spoke about the club's significant international activities in both Brazil and Turkey. Newmarket Rotary Club joined forces with other clubs including a local Town in Brazil to raise money together with Rotary International grants to build a cancer treatment centre saving patients a 3 hour trip to the nearest clinic.

Vernon also described the club's relief caravan convoy in response to the Turkey earthquake 1999.
