Taking on the Sherwood Forest Rotary 1220 Challenge

Club Member Peter takes on a challenge to cycle 1000 miles in aid of Prostrate Cancer UK


Club member Peter Branson is taking part in the Rotary Club of Sherwood Forest, Nottingham sponsored cycle ride in support of Prostate Cancer .  He has signed up in this challenge to cycle a total of 1000km before June 30th 2021. All of his rides so far have been out of Mickleover out to the west of , and he's taking the opportunity to  explore the lanes and byways down to Repton, over to Tutbury, along to Longford, up to Turnditch and down again to Duffield and Quarndon.  Since starting in July, he has already cycled over 550km and he is on the way to completing the challenge before Christmas.

Please see the photos of a few of the places visited so far - the Trent and Mersey Canal at Willington, the old mill at Longford and the parish church at Sutton-on-the-Hill.

All of the cycle rides are automatically logged using a mobile phone app called STRAVA. These are monitored and a tally kept by the Rotary Club of Sherwood Forest. If you log on to the STRAVA website you can 'follow' his progress.
