Congratulations to pupils at Great Dunmow Primary School, who excelled in the Rotary Competitions this year. Lailah Albon, on the left of the group picture, not only won the overall Dunmow prize for Young Writer, but she won the Essex District prize, with her essay on ‘the unwanted puppy’ under the theme ‘connections’. Harriet Stigwood , on the right of the group picture, won the overall Dunmow prize for her artwork on the theme ‘through my eyes’ in the Young Artist Competition.
The prizes were awarded by President Willie Fraser and Youth Chair, Jenny Versey of the Dunmow Rotary Club. Also present in the group picture is Mr K Watts, headteacher at the school. Usually the Rotary Club holds an awards evening in the summer term, and school assemblies, but this year, due to COVID, the prizes have had to be given in a socially distanced way, in the playground.
Prizes have also been given to pupils in Helena Romanes, Felsted and Stebbing Schools.
We hope everything will be back to normal next year. See details om this website for details of the 2020-2021 competitions.
