On Your Bike - our members raise over £1.4 K for Pilgrims Hospices

Richard Davis and Chris Barnett both took part in the Tour de Castles during September - a virtual cycle race where each did over 300 miles.

Richard's take

The weather is the main reason I finished early after  trips around many surrounding villages including Littlebourne, Wickhambreux, Stodmarsh, West Stourmouth, East Stourmoth, Preston, Monkton, Minster, Acol, Birchington. Minnis Bay , Reculver, Herne Bay, Hampton, Swalecliffe, Whitstable, Seasalter, Graveney , Faversham, Ospringe, Oare, Teynham, Rodmersham,

I enjoyed it a lot   It made up for the lack of cycling holidays in France etc earlier in the year

It was very different from the challenge the patients of the Hospice experience    Although I did have to walk up a few hills – the downhill stretches were magnificent      The patients only get the uphill!

Chris's take:

I completed the Challenge late afternoon today in lovely autumnal sunshine, real bonus after horrible weather this weekend.

Jenny and Dave, two of my bike buddies were with me at the finish which turned out to be Dover Pier. After photos we then whizzed home to celebrate with cake and tea, our regular training diet!

It’s been a real pleasure completing the miles and, in the process, exploring some new routes and re-visiting some routes which I haven’t been on for some time.

Thanks for all the support – sponsorship, riding with me and  general encouragement.
