Rotary Peace Ambassador Training

Our Interactors, Bewdley School teaching staff and four Rotarians have completed training

The Rotary Peace Ambassador Leadership training took place in July at Bewdley School with four of our Club members plus teaching staff from the school in attendance and finished .

Jean and Keith Best who led the training explained the project to the Club at a Zoom meeting in June. The recording of their presentation can be viewed here.

The programme has been created by Jean from a wealth of personal educational experiences obtained as a Headteacher and an HMI Inspector and also through collaboration with a team of conflict resolution experts.

Club member and teacher at The Bewdley School, Becky Newbold, stated, "The training our students receive will equip them with a deeper insight into their own abilities and, through focussed listening, collaborative communication and purposeful speaking, will give them the skills to help other students and community members."

"The first session was challenging because we all had to change our mindsets and take on board a new way of thinking and speaking. This was called Purposeful Speaking. The sessions were great fun and very rewarding because we worked in teams and arrived at the 'learning outcome', unexpectedly!”

One student commented "I found it really useful and educational. I'm not very good with public speaking or just talking to people I don't really know, but I pushed myself out of my comfort zone today. It was brilliant."

The students, staff and Rotarians all felt very privileged to be on the journey together! and looked forward to implementing in school what they had learned.
