World Polio Day 2020 - Planting Purple Crocus in Port St Mary

To celebrate World Polio Day and the ongoing work by Rotary to End Polio, the Club along with children from Scoill Phurt Le Moirrey planted 4000 Crocuses.

24th October is World Polio Day and a Rotary “Purple 4 Polio” day.

To help promote this and Celebrate that the World Health Organisation announcing Africa being “Wild Polio Free” Rushen & Western Mann purchased 4000 Purple Crocus, which were planted on 23rd October 2020 in the Millennium garden in Port St Mary assisted by all the children at Scoill Phurt Le Moirrey.
The Global Polio Eradication Initiative is an important part of our Rotary international’s scheme. Rotary International has contributed over £1.6 Billion to fight Polio around the world with Celebrities including Bill Gates, Kristen Bell, Jackie Chan and Donald Sutherland all helping to raise money and awareness for this cause. Rushen & Western Mann has continually contributed to this cause
Rushen & Western Mann would like to thank the children and the staff at Scoill Phurt Le Moirrey for helping to achieve this and we all look forward to seeing the crocus next spring.
