Recycling - an on-going service to the Community

We accept various items for recycling, including spectacles, ink cartridges, and more.

Spectacles and ink cartridges

What we collect....

1. used spectacles which are delivered to an optometrist in Lanark where the lenses are detached from their frame and sent to developing countries to assist with eyesight problems;

2. used ink jet cartridges which are delivered to the local primary school in Biggar from which they are sent to a centre for recycling;

3. discarded mobile phones are also delivered to the local primary school from which they are sent for recycling;

4. used British and foreign postage stamps which are exchanged for money to assist various needs in developing countries.

5. the Club annually donates to the charity, Water Aid, to assist with the construction of wells for the provision of fresh water in developing countries;

6. the Club has in the past been involved in Tools for Self Reliance which is a charity which organises the refurbishment of old and used joinery tools, gardening tools and sewing machines which are delivered to the T.F.S.R. workshop in Gorgie, Edinburgh where they are 'renewed' and sent to developing countries for use there by indigent people.
