Rotarian Receives Recognition for Outstanding Service
At the Rotary Club of Rayleigh Mill meeting on 30th November, Past District Governor, Pauline Dean joined the meeting via Zoom to present Rotarian Roger Allen with a Paul Harris Fellowship award.
In the Rotary Clubs of Great Britain and Ireland Paul Harris Fellowships are awarded in recognition of outstanding service to Rotary in general, service to their individual club and service to the community as a whole. In Roger’s case his unrelenting work for all of these has meant that the latest award is his third award which is recognised by him receiving a Fellowship medal with two sapphires. This third award comes as recognition for the vast amount of work that he has done in the detail of organising the many District Conferences over many years.
Roger has, together with his wife Sandra, made a huge contribution to the Essex Rotary District 1240, to their own clubs - the Rotary Club of Rayleigh Mill and the Rotary Club of Hadleigh Castle, and to many local charities and community projects but , in his quiet and unassuming manner, is reluctant to accept praise and maintains that he does it merely because he enjoys doing it.
