Each year the Club donates Usborne Illustrated dictionaries to children in local primary schools

Dictionaries for Year 5s.
For some years now the three Rotary Clubs in King’s Lynn have donated copies of the excellent Usborne Illustrated Dictionaries to children in local primary schools.  The Rotary Club of King’s Lynn normally provides some 300 of the dictionaries to Year 5 children.  When the scheme started we gave them to children in Year 6 but the teachers suggested Year 5 would be better as the children would have them for two years before they transferred to secondary schools.  Because of the Covid restrictions we have not been able to present the dictionaries to the children as we would normally do but we did ask the Headteachers to tell their pupils something about the commitment of the Rotary Club of King’s Lynn to helping local communities and charities.
The photograph shows some of the children at Whitefriars Academy with their dictionaries.  This was one of six schools which received them from our Rotary Club.  The others were Greyfriars, St Michael’s, South Wootton, North Wootton and Terrington St Clements.
