Saturday September 7th was very definitely the highlight in the year for Newquay’s Gateway Club. A dream was certainly fulfilled thanks to the Rotary Club of Newquay and Flambards in Helston. After a conversation between Gateway Club Leader Julie Milnes and President Chris Cox of the Rotary Club back in May time Chris approached his friend Richard Smith, the General Manager of Flambards in Helston, and also the Rotary Club to see what could be done to help the members of the Gateway Club. With Rotary paying for a Coach for the day and Flambards very generously offering to host them for the day the stage was set for a massive surprise to be unveiled.
After a summer of anticipation at 9am on Saturday the coach arrived to take the Gateway Club on their special visit to Flambards. Dean and Ferdie from Flambards were on hand to meet the VIP Visitors along with members of theRotary Club. What followed was a day for them to remember, so much fun was had by all with many rides on the Log Flume, the Rollercoaster amongst others with lunch being provided by Frank in the Burger Bar. Another surprise was having Ferdie join them for lunch.
Gateway Leader Julie Milnes said “The members had a fantastic time, enjoying the rides and the museums. The Flambards team and the Newquay Rotary made the day very special for the club helping to make some amazing memories”
