Calum Thomson - District Governor

.

Calum started by saying he would loved to have travelled to visit us. But, of course, that is not possible at present. He has not visited the club for around 10 years He thinks we are a very good Rotary Club.

He thanked all the members who had been district officers over the years and stated the best days of Rotary lie ahead. The district is receiving more money from Foundation than ever before.

The district is recruiting many members but losing more. Clubs need to form satellite clubs which are much more innovative than the mother club. The new club needs to do things in a completely different way. Strategic planning meetings should be held every year.

This club’s support of Lend With Care could be developed further by inviting the local high schools to take part. A district grant could be applied for to finance it

District were considering a virtual RYLA. One had been held last year and delegates from all over the world had taken part.

We must look after our members. There is no age barrier in Rotary.

There was an annual target of $1500 for contributions to End Polio Now. Every club which makes the target will get a certificate. $1million has been raised since the start in 1985. Our club has donated $38309.

Regular Returns should be made to Rotary Club Central. Our club is very good about this.

District would like to see more sustaining members who give a regular donation to Foundation.

It was to be hoped that we would gain more fellowship soon by having face to face meetings. Calum is remembering it is the club’s 40th anniversary soon.

President Theresa gave the club’s vote of thanks
