Alan is a retired optometrist who is involved with eye projects in Africa on behalf of the charity Vision Aid Overseas.

Poor vision can often be improved by glasses but there are many areas in the world where there is no access to optical services and glasses are not available. This means that people often cannot do simple tasks, cannot get jobs and children’s education suffers.

The presentation is about a project that he led to Sierra Leone to install a Vision Centre where people could get eye tests and glasses and so help pull them a little further away from the poverty trap.

It is a very visual presentation and includes a visit to two Rotary Clubs in Sierra Leone.

During this difficult time we are meeting online twice per month on the 2nd and 4th Thursday's at 7pm via Zoom.
