Last week the Mayor of Newquay, Councillor Louis Gardner presented the Rotary Club of Newquay with a Mayor’s Commendation for their continued support to the Newquay Covid Support Service. This vital service has operated since March last year as a partnership between Newquay Town Council, Rotary Club of Newquay, Newquay Lions Club and Newquay Towan Blystra Lions. Through the service, residents have been able to call a dedicated helpline and speak to one of the Town Council staff about their shopping or prescription pickup needs. The trips themselves have been undertaken by the Lions and Rotarians and have provided a vital lifeline for the vulnerable members of our society for the past year. The commendation was received by Rotary Club President Phil Tickle as he and the mayor were marshalling for vaccinations at Narrowcliff surgery.
