Mar 2021 Speaker - Rich Allison from Liberia

Mon, Mar 1st 2021 at 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Zoom Meeting - Speaker confirmed.

Richelieu (Rich) Marcel Allison  – will be speaking from Liberia on

‘Embracing COVID 19 as a Peace Scholar and my work on Covid 19 in Liberia’.

We met Rich originally when he visited Cambridge in 2013.  He was finishing his 18 months at the University of Bradford when he spoke at the Cambridge Club's charter event along with others, as well as talking at schools as part of our annual Peace activities.

He says ‘I am proud to be a Rotary Peace scholar who studied for a Masters degree at the University of Bradford  - one of 6 universities in the world which, collectively, offer 60 Rotary Peace Scholarships each year.’

Rich was a victim of the conflict in his native land, Liberia, and has since been involved in Human Rights advocacy and peace building since 1998. He founded the West African Youth Network

to mobilize youth across West Africa to engage in activities relating to human rights, peace building, conflict resolution and youth empowerment.  He also participated in the Rotary Peace Program in Bangkok, Thailand in 2006. "

In the summer of 2014 he was working on a project in Sierra Leone.

Later he did a lot of work on Ebola in Liberia and our Club made a small contribution to his work. He joined Rotary there and became president of his club.

He recently updated his profile picture on FB to show a photo when he was with us which includes our members Alan Franklin and Bob Sadler.
