Young Writer 2021

For the first time, we took part in the National Rotary Young Writer competition this year

The Rotary Young Writer competition requires contestants to write a story, either fiction or non-fiction, of no more than 550 words on a given theme. This year's theme was 'My Happiest Day'. We are grateful for the support of Richard Patterson, Deputy Head of English at the Academy in running the competition.

We were fortunate to secure the services of local author Joan Khurody as our judge. After much deliberation, she chose a story by Tia Sayer, about Christmas Day as the winner. Runner up was Zoeanne De'Ath, who wrote about a holiday to Whitby. Our judge praised the work of these two entrants, and wrote to them both to encourage them to continue writing, and to give them feedback on their work.
