Fedor Pankratou originally from Moscow was welcomed to the meeting via zoom when he told the club about his journey to help young people.  Most of the Rotarians present remembered Fedor who was a past president of Rotaract during his time studying at St Andrews University.  He explained that many international students enjoy living in the UK, like himself, and want to stay and work here which can present visa difficulties.

He told us that his company in London, Goldman Professionals was named after his grandfather who was passionate about helping others.   Since starting work on Kickstart Gateway 2020 his team has risen from two members to seven employed by the Department of Work and Pensions finding work for 16 -  24 year olds.   Having had experience in business banking, financial and business consulting, marketing and financial technology he said that young people should not worry about failing as only through failing can they bring valuable experience and knowledge.

Fedor outlined the challenges facing young people like of lack of discipline, lack of motivation, having been misdirected by parents or by university and some students had been told to just get good grades and work will come.

His future work plans were to get as many people jobs as possible and to start working with apprenticeships and a restart scheme, supporting international students on work placements.

Colin Mitchell, who has been closely involved with Rotaract young people in St Andrews for many years thanked Fedor for his very interesting and different presentation and as he said what we as Rotarians know - Rotary Opens Opportunities.
