Tour de Furness proves to be a spectacular success

The Tour de Furness celebrated its 25th anniversary in great style

The Tour de Furness returned in spectacular style with a fine day for the riders.

Preliminary indications are that the event has raised over £23,000 for local charities and good causes.

This year was the Silver Jubilee event, and in addition to the usual leisurely routes, a new more challenging Bluebird 50-mile ride was introduced following requests from some participants.

The event saw the usual four rides of five miles, 13 miles, 23 miles and 50 miles with a twist as a new 50-mile ride was developed so that riders avoided the A590 to give a more scenic ride with some challenging sections.
