Jim Matthews (Rotary Club of Leicester Novus) will be speaking on ‘Play Lists for Life’ (Music to help with coping with Dementia). Meeting is at the Football Club in Browns Lane opposite the tip.

We have arranged a speaker event for the meeting next Monday (11th April). The speaker will be Jim Matthews from the Rotary Club of Leicester Novus. Jim is going to be talking about the charity 'Play Lists for Life' which was started by the family of Mastermind chairperson Magnus Magnusson. The aim of 'Play lists for Life' is to help promote the very simple but effective use of musical memories to help with the care and support suffers of Dementia. This is a subject dear to my heart as both Maggie's mother and my mine suffered from this dreadful affliction which in some ways is as distressing to the family as to the sufferer themselves. As we live longer, it is becoming an increasingly common condition so practical help in how to support friends and family facing this problem should be most welcome.

Jim has given this talk to a number of Rotary Clubs and other groups previously and often extends the presentation by getting members of the audience to share any special musical memories they have. I did tell Jim that during our 'Zoom period' we have already had a night where Club members had their special musical choices played but if anyone would like to contribute a specially meaningful musical memory I am sure it would be well received.

It was confirmed last night that we are to meet at Daventry Town Football Club in Browns Road. The entrance to the car park is the last one on the left of the road as you pass the Car Wash and the recycling Centre. It is the next one after the Indoor Bowling Club.

Please arrive 7ish ready to sit and eat for 7.30pm. We will be eating in the large meeting room upstairs. The Bar is downstairs but there is a lift to the room and also toilets on both the ground and 1st floor.

The meal choices are:

Scampi and Chips
Beef Lasagne and Chips
Veggie Lasagne and chips

Strawberry Cheesecake
Fruit Salad

The price of the meal is £12 per head including coffee/tea afterwards.

Please respond with meal choices to me by Friday latest and also to say if you are coming but not eating. Please feel free to bring partners.

Christmas Collecting
