Stôfiau newydd i Kibera, Nairobi / New stoves for Kibera, Nairobi

Mae’n bleser bod yn rhan o ymgyrch elusen Kanzi-Kibera Friends (kanzikiberafriends.org)  i godi arian er mwyn prynu stôf newydd yr un, i bedair ysgol yn y slym fwyaf yn Affrica, Kibera. Saif Kibera 6 km y tu allan i lle mae tua miliwn o bobl yn byw mewn tlodi, y mwyafrif yn ennill llai na $1 y dydd. Cyfrannodd clwb Rotary Dinbych £500 a chafwyd grant o £500 gan Rotary yn ganolog.

Mae’r pedair ysgol sydd yn cael eu cefnogi gan elusen Kanzi-Kibera Friends yn rhoi addysg gynradd a pharatoi pryd bwyd i tua 550 o blant bob dydd er mywn eu hannog i fynd i’r ysgol ac fel ymgais i wella maeth y disgyblion, sydd yn aml yn wael. Bydd y pedair stôf newydd yn llawer mwy effeithiol na’r hen rai ac yn cymryd llawer llai o amser i goginio’r prydau bwyd.

Gan edrych yn agosach at adref, mae Clwb Rotari Dinbych hefyd wedi cyfrannu cyfanswm o £5,100 yn ddiweddar i'r elusennau lleol canlynol:

Ambiwlans Awyr Cymru, Hosbis St Kentigern’s, Hope House / Ty Gobaith, Child Line, MIND Vale of Clwyd, Women’s Aid (DASU), Gofal Canser Marie Curie, Homestart, Samariaid a Nyrsys MacMillan.

It has been wonderful to be part of a project by the charity Kanzi-Kibera Friends (kanzikiberafriends.org) to raise money to buy a new stove for each of four schools in the largest slum in , Kibera. It’s 6 km from where approximately one million live in poverty, the majority earning less than $1 a day. Denbigh Rotary Club donated £500 and was successful in gaining a grant of £500 from Rotary centrally.

The four schools supported by Kanzi-Kibera Friends provide primary education and a meal for approximately 550 children, both to encourage attendance at school and to improve the often poor nutrition of pupils. The four new stoves will be more efficient and will allow meals to be prepared more quickly.

Looking closer to home, the Denbigh Rotary Club have also recently donated a total of £5,100  to the following local charities:

Air Ambulance Wales , St Kentigern’s Hospice, Hope House/Ty Gobaith, Child Line, MIND Vale of Clwyd, Women’s Aid (DASU), Marie Curie Cancer Care, Homestart, Samaritans and MacMillan Nurses.
