BREAKFAST

Agenda:               Lesley said that Andrew M has previously raised the issue of refugees from Ukraine arriving in the UK with no cash.  It was suggested that Rotary might provide them with supermarket vouchers for food and necessaries.  Lesley has looked into this; Whitstable Rotary, by way of donations,  is providing refugees with support until such time as their benefits come through.

Lesley reminded the meeting that she was not at last week’s evening meeting due to Covid, but the feedback she has received is the speaker was very entertaining. Andrew B conformed the best he had heard.

Lesley asked for feedback about TWAM this last week end.  Andrew M said the response was very good.  The collected enough to fill a van.  He still has some power tools for collection.  Andrew did wonder if the posters advertising TWAM has been posted anywhere?  Lesley confirmed that there was a page on Face Book which did attract a number of hits.

Re: club meals, Roberts has asked if members who are bringing guests can make it clear who is paying for their meals (David M needs this so he can record members’ meals balances) and the first name and family of the guest?  Dave C asked if it could be noted that Diane has the same name as he does ie ‘Coupland’ not ‘Copeland’.  Andrew B reminded Dave that Brealy (as in ‘Pat Brealy) doesn’t have an ‘E’ in it.

Lesley said that re next week’s breakfast meeting 12th May, the golf club can’t accommodate us so we will meet at the Plough.  Everyone please note.

On the subject of timings for evening meals can everyone please note that the start time for evening meals is arrive from 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start.  The next evening meal will be 26th May at the Plough.

Lesley said that the local community has been asked if there is anyone free to collect a family of refugees from Ukraine from Stansted airport on Monday afternoon?  Let Lesley know. Lesley to circulate the local ‘Whitstable Welcome Network’s newsletter so everyone can see what is going on locally for Ukrainian refugees.

Any Other Business:        Spyros said a neighbour has two flat screen TV’s for anyone who needs them.  One is 21” the other 42”.

Thanks to Robert, Spyros and Hilary who have weeded the rose garden.  There are dandelions amongst the grass, but we must leave them for the bees.

Happy Birthday to Andrew M for Saturday.

Raffle:                                   Was won by Margaret.

Master-at-Arms:              Godfrey had remembered to bring Bertie Bassett this week.

Final Toast:                         Was given by Lesley.
