PHASE NEPAL

LATEST....Finished 2145hrs 4th June 2021

The challenge is complete! I cycled 4 laps of the 34.6 mile circuit making a total of 138.4 miles.

Thank you to everyone who supported me on the day particularly Rashmi who kept me fed and watered, and the members of Bodmin Rotary Club Pete Ford and Su Tune who cycled part of the route with me and to Colin Bell and David and Angie Jenkins who came out to cheer me on my way back into Bodmin. Thank you all!

The statistics are: I started cycling at 05:25 am and finished at 9:45 pm, a little over 16 hours, cycling 138.4 miles total and averaging 11.5 mph for the 12 hours actually sat on the bike peddling. The longest single day ride I’ve ever done - pretty good for 58 years old!

Martin said, “Thinking of those being supported in Nepal kept me going when my legs were screaming at me to stop, a great incentive to complete this challenge. I am proud to be a member of Rotary International and the Rotary Club of Bodmin”.

Bodmin Rotary Club Member - Martin Taylor is personally supporting this project and has raised a Just Giving Page with all details - " I'm getting on my bike and aiming to cycle 170 miles in one day for Nepal "

" I will be cycling as many miles as I can between sunrise and sunset on one day in early June. I will be riding full circuits of the Camel Trail, Cornwall, UK. A full return circuit is 34.6 miles and in the 16 hours of available daylight I aim to complete 170 miles or more."

What makes it worthwhile is that before June 25th 2021 all donations from anywhere in the world will be doubled by the UK Government. Also, UK tax payers can also claim Gift Aid. (£20 amounts to £45)

'PHASE' collaborates with local health authorities and the government to improve health facilities in the remote communities. Along with equipment and supplies, we also provide training to health staff and support the logistics and management. Areas of support include family planning, maternity care like deliveries, antenatal/postnatal care, immunization, growth monitoring, minor illnesses and emergencies.
