Young Environmentalist 2022

Winner Milly Slaven, runner up Billie Butler

The competition was  between students at Wayland Academy, under the supervision of science teacher Ed Sadler. Students were asked to think about climate change and design a poster on a specific issue.

The competitors were required to:

Undertake research into what climate change is, how humans are involved, and the problems it causes.

Choose a specific issue to highlight, using facts and data they research.

Come up with ideas on how people can reduce their carbon footprint with advice, tips and inspiring reasons for doing so.

Entries were judged by a small sub-committee from the Rotary Club, with winners announced at our Awards evening in June, and certificates presented to the participants at the Academy by Head Teacher Glen Allott.

Toby Bennett of Year 7 was adjudged the winner, with Angel Pircabescu of Year 9 the runner up.
