Kinver Rotary Club is delighted to congratulate Kate Oakley, founder of the charity  Planting for Hope Uganda, has been selected by Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland as one of only six recipients of the prestigious RGBI Community Champions Award.

The club nominated Kate to Rotary District 1060 for the award and her nomination was selected by District Governor Tim Bushell to be forwarded to RGBI who received nominations from across the whole of the British Isles.

This award is given for outstanding work in the community at home and abroad and Kate’s tireless drive to empower the community of Kititi by giving them hope through a self-supporting and sustainable future. The Club has supported her work in Uganda over a number of years in projects such as providing clean water for this bush village.  The current project is a dormitory for 50 orphaned and vulnerable girls at the Cornerstone School in Kititi, to provide safe accommodation and free education and health care. More about this project can be found at page http://goto.gg/51324

Kate will be presented with her award at 2021 Virtual Awards evening on Wednesday 30th June 2021.
